Home is where the heart is.
I was thinking a great deal today about what home is to me. Back in my early 20s I was a traveller/ski bum, moving from country to country, job to job. Looking for the next big adventure. Now I am the opposite being at home and feeling settled are important things to me. Ultimately my home is wherever Luke, Cleo, Esther & Pearl are as they are what is most important.
However there is one place on this planet that has my heart and the thing is I never appreciated it until now. And that is Devon. The beautiful rolling countryside, the coastal towns, that new village you discover with every trip, the Britain in Bloom prize winning florals, the people who take the time to say good morning, the jurassic coastline, the wonderful ancient moors, adorable thatched cottages I could honestly go on and on. The sad thing is I grew up there and I never properly appreciated it. After living in London I realised I was privileged enough to have a wonderful upbringing in a beautiful place. Yet as soon as I turned 16 I couldn't wait to get to get out of the place (admittedly I moved just over the border to Cornwall with my friend Hannah) see the world and be a grown up! Growing up actually didn't happen until I was 25 and there was many adventures and mishaps before I found myself back in this country.
One day I see myself back in Devon, with an excellent cottage garden and my horses visible from the garden gate. In the meantime as I said home is where the heart is and right now thats exactly where I am.
